Origins and Identity

History of the Bamiléké people, chiefdoms, clans, symbols, local languages.

Arts and Cultural Expression

Traditional dances, music, storytelling and legends.

Skills, Agriculture and Traditions

Farming, cooking, crafts, weaving, daily life. Introduction to digital tools to document culture.

Bamiléké Spirituality and Heritage

Spirituality, role of chiefs, cultural transmission, traditional games, final showcase.

Camp Hours

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Daycare Service: 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM ($20 USD / hour)

Standard Rate

$300 USD per week, per child

4 Week Discount

$250 USD per week, per child

Book all 4 weeks at $1,000, a $200 discount!

Registration Terms

  • Weekly registration required
  • Camp open to all
  • Fees cover camp activities only
  • Transportation and accommodation are not included
  • No refunds less than 2 weeks before camp start

About the Camp

Ida Kouesso

My name is Ida Kouesso, and I am the coordinator of the Bamiléké Cultural Summer Camp, "Ndzié Nkap", organized by La'akam, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization registered in Pittsburgh, in partnership with Académie Les Monts Bamboutos.
